This incidence has occurred to me when I was in class Three. One day when I and my sister were walking to school and we were just 5 minutes far from our school. A boy, who is from another section, was returning back from school so early. We were very surprised to see him returning. Seeing us, he stopped and told us that it was a holiday due to some strike within the valley.

Being kids, we were very fond of holidays and always look forward to get a day off. Getting a surprised holiday was always good news for us. After hearing this good news from the boy, we were very happy that we have got a day off and there are no assignments for the day, hence without going to school we paced back to our home. We also relayed this message to the one whoever we met on our way back.

When we arrived to school next morning, we heard from friends that it wasn’t holiday yesterday and whoever was absent would get a punishment from the principal himself. Indeed, more than 50% of the students were absent due to that rumor.

I got scared even today when I remembered the time of the punishment. The principal beat us on our calf and back of our hands so that we would never believe in such rumours in coming days, not believe whatever other told us and to trust other only after some investigations. That was only not enough for us, again one teacher who used to be very strict, had made us kneel down for an hour during his class to teach us the same lessons. And he was right, if we have gone to school to check about that rumor then we would have escaped all those punishments. That day was very long and hard one for us. And also had taught us a lesson for the lifetime i.e., not to belief in rumors and trust others only after some investigations.
